Good place to go out with friends.
The food is good nothing out of this world but it is very tasty and if you are looking for some Asian flavors, this is a good place to eat.
They serve good portions and the price is not too expensive.
The fries are really good I highly recommend them.
The chicken wings with sweet chili garlic were good, largely breaded and extra crispy with good flavor, just like Korean wings should be. The service was top notch and they have corn hole outback if you want to hang out for a while. I'd definitely stop by again to try other dishes. The wings were ~$16 and 6 was plenty for one person.
Note to staff: please be careful about waxing the floors too close to opening. They were extra slippery when I came and many guests were almost falling as they walked through the restaurant.
We tried bone-in wings, chicken strips & chicken fried rice. The strips & the chicken in the fried rice was very crispy, but the wings were soggy. Bold sauce flavors were delicious. The Kimchi fried rice was sweet & savory...and the pickled diacon brought out the sweetness even more. Oddly, there was nothing non-alcoholic but water. The back patio is very nice....
First of all Jodie and the other bartender were fun and entertaining and made me feel welcome. Unfortunately the food was horrible- the loaded fries were not loaded-unless you consider a teaspoon of random spices and a side of congealed cheese to count. It looked as though the cook deliberately spent effort to make the fries as unappetizing as possible by hiding the Korean spice on the bottom. Unbeknownst to me Gangchu doesn’t have an employee capable of cooking the most basic bar food in America; the chicken wing. I was given a strange science experiment that consisted of an actual chicken wing hidden by a mysterious crust that ballooned the size of the wing to mutant proportions. In terms of edibility the double battered wings were so caked in some disgustingly thick flour coating that I could feel it crunching my teeth. Yet I failed to find the actual chicken meat unless I pried through the paper maiche skim coat and manually picked the meat off. I was charged $17 for the privilege of playing with this failed play doh recipe as I certainly couldn’t eat it even if I wanted too.
The only defense I will give the cooks is that I placed my order 30 minutes before closing so perhaps they had decided to smoke a blunt out back rather than fill one measly order before leaving. I won’t go back to this sad excuse for a restaurant unless I have an assurance by the owner that the cooks won’t purposely sabotage the food but perhaps decide to execute the recipe to the best of their abilities, after all it should make them happy and satisfied to make quality food.
I was craving for good Korean fried chicken and decided to give this place a try. We ordered loaded fries, chicken wings, boneless wings, Korean side dishes, and kimchi fried rice with pork. The loaded fries were not really loaded, but they were crispy. Chicken wings were delicious. They were crispy with flavor already so did not need the dipping sauce. Boneless wings were pricy and were just ok to me. Side dishes were ok. I did not care for the kimchi fried rice with pork as the pork tasted weird to me. Service was great. We went on a Monday night. There were total of 2 parties in the restaurant including us. They have a karaoke room that can be rented by the hour.
So, true to form we got there and there was no CO2 so no soft drinks no beer but water was fine. We got dumplings and wings and I've got to tell you that I cannot wait for my next visit. The wings were great. They were good sized and they were not over spiced, simply excellent. Highly recommended.
Great Korean fried chicken, similar to BonChon - double fried chicken. Wish they had pickle radish. Bar is nice and atmosphere is nice. Bought a Groupon $80 for $49 for team lunch.
I would say that what really ruined the experience was being forgotten by the staff…. Waiter was nice but left after initial ordering and then the remainder of the staff WILL ignore you and even check on other tables… really lame. Finally got the check at the end and was able to order a refill at the end of my meal.
The loaded fries were very soggy and had a puddle of watery cheese at the bottom. Fried egg was burnt too
The bulgogi had GREAT flavor, I really enjoyed that dish. Fried egg was also burnt for this order too. And the portions for the kimchi were small.
Overall, i’d skip. Staff negligence and food aren’t worth it which sucked bc it has the potential to be a really neat place. But too many unwelcoming factors.
